Dan Johnson was one of the first podcasters to document his hunting journey to help others. Over the last few years, the passionate hunter built the largest, most diverse podcast network in the industry, Sportsmen’s Empire.
Brad Luttrell and a team of cofounders built GoWild, one of the first and now longest standing free social platforms for hunters. The platform has been recognized as the best social app for hunters and anglers.
Officially today, the two announce a new partnership, bringing the industry’s top tech and talent together. The new alliance comes with a series of announcements:
GoWild’s podcast joins Sportsmen’s Empire
The “UNCENSORED by GoWild” podcast has moved to the Sportsmen’s Empire network. The show joins the nearly 30 shows on Johnson’s podcast powerhouse, which has added millions of downloads over the last few years. GoWild’s show is popular among its members, and is a viral hit on social media, with clips of the show garnering millions of views since launch.
Sportsmen’s Empire joins GoWild’s creator network
GoWild has been a long-time premier partner of the network, and with this partnership the duo expand GoWild’s investment into Johnson’s network of creators.
Sportsmen’s Empire will join GoWild’s robust program for creators, empowering Sportsmen’s Empire to continue to monetize and grow through gear sale commissions from GoWild’s Shop. GoWild plans to launch a Phase II of its creator network later in 2023, crafted with the help of Johnson.
New GoWild functionality
GoWild is the leading platform for sharing and finding what outdoor podcasts other outdoorsmen are enjoying. With help from Sportsmen’s Empire, GoWild is expanding this functionality in 2023. These features will be announced later this year.
“I was listening to Dan Johnson’s podcasts long before we even became friends,” said Brad Luttrell, Cofounder, CEO of GoWild. “We’ve consistently worked with Dan’s other shows, too, because he is building the best quality shows in the industry. We want to be a part of it—it’s that simple.”
As an even deeper part of the partnership, Johnson will join team GoWild as an occasional guest on GoWild’s podcast. The show’s format is a Monday morning conversation from the “woods, waters and whatevers,” which Luttrell says usually turns into very relatable failed stories of outdoor pursuits. “Dan will bring us up a notch in hunting season, that’s’ for sure,” Luttrell adds.
“I’m excited about all of this because I’ve watched GoWild build this platform for years,” said Johnson, the founder of Sportsmen’s Empire. “We’ve long talked about what a more robust partnership could look like. I’m a storyteller, and GoWild is building the best platform for storytellers—this could not make more sense.”
