2022 NWTF Show Wrapped Up

By Brodie SwisherFebruary 21, 2022

It’s been 2 years since the last time the turkey hunting community turned Nashville into Turkey Town. So when the show floor opened up on Thursday, hunters from across the country swarmed the aisles to check out the sights and sounds of turkey season.

It was NWTF’s 46th Annual Convention & Sport Show, and it was good to be back in Nashville for the live event. Over the years, the event has become more like a family reunion for the turkey hunting community. It’s a must-attend event for any hunter, regardless of whether you choose to hunt turkey, deer, predator, waterfowl, or western game. The show has a little something for every hunter.

The Best Gear

The show features the best of the best in gear for turkey hunting, as well as many other styles of hunting beyond the wild turkey. It’s the go-to place to try and buy any style of turkey call you can possibly imagine. You’ll hear the sounds of turkey calls everywhere you go.

In fact, long before you enter the exhibit hall,  you’ll hear the sounds of the wild turkey. My boys and I heard it the moment we walked through the door of the lobby, as one young lady was practicing on her slate call in preparation for the calling contest. If you like to hear turkey calling, this is the place to be.

You'll find the best of the best in turkey gear on display at the NWTF show.

Other gear and items on display at the NWTF Show include decoys, ground blinds, turkey vests, boots, camo, coolers, hearing enhancement, bows, crossbows, guns, hunting camp gear, outfitters, food, and so much more. There are tons of opportunities for the kids, as well as the non-hunting attendee. It’s truly an experience your whole family will enjoy.

Turkey calls and camo are the hot ticket items hunters tend to buy the most each year at the show.

Crowning Champions

One of the biggest features of the show each year is the crowning of the champions in a variety of contests. From taxidermy and call making, to the actual Grand National calling contest, the best of the best will be on display for all to see.

This year’s winner of the 2022 Grand National Calling Championships in the Senior Finals was Matt Van Cise. The man is a machine when it comes to calling turkeys. He’s one of the winningest turkey callers to ever walk the stage. This was his 7th GNCC Open title to claim on the big stage in Nashville.

If you’ve never attended the NWTF show, you need to add it to the schedule for 2023. The sights and sounds of Turkey Town are something every hunter should experience, at least once. And when the show winds down, Nashville, Tennessee has plenty to offer with great food and live music at nearly every stop in town. There’s plenty to see and do in Nashville when the turkey hunting community comes to town.

We hope to see you at the next one!
