Man Shot After Aiming Compound Bow at Police

By Brodie SwisherApril 12, 2022

A recent standoff between a Virginia man and local police resulted in shots fired. However, the interesting thing about this situation is that the perpetrator was going head to head with police with a bow and arrow.

A body-cam worn by police captured the incident that went down in Fairfax County, Virginia.

A police reports says that officers were called to a home in the 4500 block of Briarton Drive in Chantilly when 50-year-old, Robert Jablonski, threatened his elderly parents. With a mental health issue in play, officers returned to the home with an emergency custody order in hopes of helping Jablonski with mental health treatment.

Officers worked to deescalate the situation, but were unsuccessful. The decision was made for the officers, and Jablonski’s parents to leave the home. Jablonski soon followed, showing up at the front door with bow and arrow in hand and aiming at officers.

The video shows police firing on Jablonski when he refused to put down the bow. He was struck in the upper body, and emergency crews quickly moved in to help with first aid.

Jablonski was later taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is facing charges of attempted aggravated murder of a police officer.
