When he’s not on stage, country music artist, Koe Wetzel, enjoys spending time in the outdoors in pursuit of his next adventure. A quick scroll through his IG account and you’ll find he’s chased everything from giant bucks, to ducks, turkeys, gators, free-range Aoudad, giant fish and everything in between. The dude really loves to chase wild things!
But it was his latest adventure that brought him face to face with a black bear in Utah…inside a cave. Wetzel particularly loves bowhunting for big game, and the bow was his weapon of choice for this most recent hunt for a bear.
Wetzel recently posted about the hunt on Instagram:
“What a wild and crazy hunt this week in Utah! This beast gave the dogs a run for their money, but they finally bayed him up in a cave.
After a couple hell nahs and going back and forth on whether we should go in after ’em, I was able to slide in and put three arrows in him.”
Hunting with hounds is a common practice among bear hunters across the country for a safe and efficient means of selecting the right bear to take.
Congrats to Wetzel on a beautiful bear with his bow, and unashamedly sharing the story with his fans.
It’s good to see these big personalities sharing the stories of their hunt, despite the backlash they undoubtedly receive. Take Jay Cutler, for example. The former Chicago Bear recently killed a black bear in Montana and posted to Instagram. The post stirred things up considerably with a number of his anti-hunting fans vowing to unfollow him and wish hate upon his life for all eternity.
It’s amazing how quickly the necessary management of a black bear population triggers people to act with such hate.
Anyway, well done, Cutler! Great bear!
