Hunters can’t help but roll their eyes when a non-hunter asks the question, “Did you catch any deer?”
However, the video below shows that maybe we can in fact “catch a deer.” At least that’s what happened for one hunter/fisherman on a recent trip to the lake. Check it out…
The situation in the video above is obviously a rare encounter. However, a similar situation occurred for BHOD staffer, Kurt Thorsen, this past year while on the water. He tells the story of a buck he and a buddy pulled from the water while fishing.
“Shortly after launching our kayaks, I noticed something up ahead tangled up in a root ball along the shore,” says Thorsen. “At first, I didn’t think anything of it. I figured it was a sun-bleached root or someone’s trash.”
“As we continued casting down the shore line it became apparent that it was more than just a root ball.”
“I quickly realized it was a deer, but the closer we got the more points that started to appear from the brush. There were 13 points, to be exact!”
