Deer Stabbed with Own Antler

The beauty of social media is the ability to capture and share the images of experiences you know would otherwise be unbelievable were it not for the photo or video documenting the incident. And none prove to be more entertaining than the messes we find wildlife getting themselves into, whether in the woods, or the backyard.

You’ve likely got your favorites. The moose stuck in the pool, the giant bucks locked together by their antlers, the deer stuck in the fence, and the list goes on.

The most recent addition to the list is honestly one I’ve never come across. The series of photos captures a whitetail buck that managed to stab himself with his own antler.

Sean Redd captured the situation on camera when the crazy encounter took place behind his home in Drasco, Arkansas.

Just when you think you've seen it all, you find a buck that has stabbed himself with its own antler. Photo: Sean Redd

“I was just sitting on my front porch after work, around 7:30,” says Redd. “I was watching about 10 deer feeding around my feeder, when all of the sudden they spooked off for some unknown reason. A minute later, I heard a buck grunting. This went on for several minutes, so I decided to drive down to investigate.”

That’s when Redd found the buck stuck with his antler stabbed into his leg. “I was able to help him get the antler out by pushing his head down and pulling the leg straight out.”

“Once freed up, the buck took off running back into the woods. I’ve seen him a few times since then, and he looks fine. I’ve hunted my whole life, and bowhunted the last 12 years, but have never seen anything like this!”

What about you? What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen in the wild? Comment below, and let us know.
