A two-year-old Texas boy is in critical condition after a coyote attacked the child at his home.

The attack took place in Dallas, and police reports say the child was sitting on his front porch when the incident occurred, just before 8:30am.

Officers responding to the incident located the coyote and fired shots at the animal as it retreated to the nearby woods. However, there has been no recovery of the animal at this point.

The boy was transported to the hospital following the attack and was reported to be in critical condition. Locals in the area said this is not the first they’ve seen of this overly aggressive coyote running the streets in this neighborhood.

Dallas police shared a photo of the coyote responsible for the attack and said the animal is considered “extremely dangerous.”

“When a coyote attacks, it’s usually an unwell coyote, a coyote that’s not healthy,” Sam Kieschnick with Texas Parks and Wildlife told FOX4 Dallas-Fort Worth. “That’s a coyote that should be removed from the population.”

Although efforts have been made to locate, trap, and remove the animal from the area, the coyote has yet to be recovered.
