9-Year-Old Boy Kills Albino Turkey in Missouri

By Brodie SwisherApril 13, 2023

Turkey season is here, and hunters across the country are hitting the spring woods in search of a gobbler. And while most turkey hunters don’t necessarily target a “trophy tom,” every once in a while a rare bird comes along that every hunter in town wants to wrap their tag around.

That was the case for 9-year-old, Easton Colby, of Missouri. Colby has been hunting with his grandpa at the family farm for the last five years. And despite the fact that he’s had multiple opportunities to bag a turkey since he started hunting, Easton had his sights set on an albino longbeard that was hanging out with the local flock of turkeys.

The boy’s grandpa, Curtis Colby, says Easton was adamant about  killing the white tom for his first turkey. “He was very patient,” Says  Colby. “I couldn’t be prouder of him.”

Check it out in the video below.

After sitting in their pop-up style ground blind for over 3 hours, the hunters finally saw turkeys approaching across the field. And sure enough, the white turkey was right in the middle of them.

After Easton made the shot, the hunters climbed out of the blind to claim their prize – a 22 pound bird with 1 1/4″ spurs.

The guys took the bird to the taxidermist with plans for a full strut mount to be displayed in Easton’s room.
