2022 Elite Terrain Compound Bow Review

A Bowhunter-Friendly Design

The crew at Elite set out to deliver a more bowhunter-friendly design in the making of the Terrain compound bow. Features built in to this bow include a more compact design, comfortable draw, stability at full draw, and accuracy at the shot. The goal for this bow was simple. It was built to be dependable, durable, and deadly. It’s what you’ll find in this latest offering from Elite.

Meet the all-new Elite Terrain.

The  bow is built with an incredibly solid back wall. Once arriving at full draw, you’ll be there until you shoot, or push it back down. There’s no jumping towards release. The bow also has a 7″ brace height, making it an ultra-forgiving option in a lightweight package.

The Cam System

The Terrain utilizes a hybrid cam system built for greater performance while maintaining an incredibly smooth and comfortable draw cycle. The bow loads heavier on the front end and rolls smooth through the cycle without any obnoxious roll over.

The Terrain's Hybrid Cam delivers a smooth draw cycle.

It features a rotating mod for a longer draw length of 25 ½” to 31 1/2”. Adjustments can be made down to precise, half-inch increments.

The bow also boasts a wide, 15-pound draw weight range to cover a variety of shooters, as well as the ability to advance alongside new or growing archers.

Riser & Grip

The Terrain weighs in under 4 pounds, delivering a nice and light feel in the hand. It’s built on a sharp looking riser platform that is solid and stable with a slim-line Precision Grip that tucks nicely in the sweet spot of your hand.

The grip is a subtle and smooth extension of the riser. It easily gets the nod for a comfortable, repeatable grip shot after shot.

Other Features

Silencing is built into the Terrain with the VibeX Blocks and integrated string stop. It’s a nice combination built to reduce vibration for a quieter shot.

The bow also comes standard with premium Winner’s Choice String & Cables, as well as a Lifetime Warranty with Hunt Guarantee.

The bow comes in four color options including the new Mountain Tan and Brown Sienna.

On the Range

I spent some time on the range with the Terrain to get a feel for how it performed. I also shot arrows through the chrono for a look at speed.

I shot a lightweight arrow option, as well as a heavier arrow option to see how each stacked up through the chrono.

Here’s a look at what I got from the test bow with 28″ draw length and 70# draw weight.

Arrow 1 – 388 Grains – 290 FPS

Arrow 2 – 512 Grains – 255 FPS

The 2022 Elite Terrain is an exciting new option that continues to build on a growing trend of better bow options wearing a more attractive price tag.

It’s a great looking bow with plenty of performance to boot. The stability at full draw rivals most any bow on the market.

Be sure to check it out at your local Elite dealer, or online at www.elitearchery.com.

While you’re there, be sure to check out Elite’s all-new Basin bow as well. It was designed to define a new standard in bows for young and growing archers.

Reaching 70 pounds of draw weight, the Basin goes pound for pound with bows in its class and like its predecessor the Ember, the Basin doesn’t cut any corners in its aluminum components and is backed with Elite Archery’s industry-leading Lifetime Warranty and Hunt Guarantee.

Featuring a 32 3/8” axle-to-axle and 6 11/16” brace height, the Basin includes premium features such as Elite’s recognizable caged aluminum riser, stainless steel cam bearings and aluminum pockets, cams, and mods. Limb stops create a rock-solid back wall on a draw cycle that will reach draw lengths of 16 to 30 inches while the 20-70 pound draw weight range is perfect for the growing archer.

The Basin is available as a stand-alone bow, or with a Ready to Shoot (RTS) package that comes complete with a sight, stabilizer, quiver and full containment arrow rest from CBE.
