This buck has the characteristic beginning of a rounded belly and a neck that is thick, but the skin still appears to be fairly tight.

This buck exhibits a substantial amount of loose skin and hair around the sternum from years of developing neck muscles. Both the hams and front shoulders are obviously muscled and well developed if not heavy. And its expanded neck makes it difficult to determine the junction where the neck meets the chest cavity. I also fail to see much if any loose skin below the lower jaw, thus I would estimate the age of this buck to be five years.

I had a fair bit of history with this buck and believed he was 3 years old back in 2018. He pretty much maintained the exact same frame and antler size each year making him easy to identify over the years. Based off my guess from 2018, as well as a professional teeth aging process, this buck was most likely 6.5 when I shot him in 2021.
