What else needs to be said about this buck other than TANK! Not only in the rack department but on the body size of this buck. This Northern Illinois buck was a big fan of making his presence known to the other deer in the area, working scrapes and thrashing trees regularly.
Along with muscular front and hind legs, this buck sports a large stomach and thick neck with rolls apparent in these trail camera pictures. This buck appears to be 5.5. The thick neck with loose skin, very prominent belly sag, and the very noticeable graying of the muzzle leads me to believe that he is an old warrior
This buck has a rounded, not squared off nose, substantial hams and no sway in the back. It also has well-muscled upper front legs and a slight drop in the stomach. The ears appear rounded with a deep cut on the right ear. I would call it 5.5 years of age.
Again, the body is guiding my guess here. He’s got the features that say 5.5 to me
