This deer is starting to gain the good muscle tone of older whitetail bucks, but isn’t quite there yet. He still appears to be fairly lean which would lead me to believe he is an impressive 3.5-year-old.

This buck exemplifies all the characteristics of a four-year-old buck exhibiting a flat back and taut stomach along with well-muscled yet fit or semi-tight hindquarters. Its ears are semi-pointed and the nose is well-defined with no loose skin under the lower jaw.
This is a buck that I've kept an eye on all year at one of my hunting spots. Despite a decent amount of trail camera photos, I was never able to get my eyes on him, which lead me to believe he is a mature buck. Based off his body size during September, and the size of his front shoulders in the December photo, I believe this is a 4.5-year-old buck.
