A Doe for Music

By Bow StaffOctober 10, 2016

Bowhunt or Die prostaffer, Richard Music, hit the woods recently in search of an early season hit-list buck – or big doe, whichever strolled by first. Music was anxious to put some new equipment to work in the deer woods, including his new Black Eagle Zombie Slayer arrows and NAP Doublecross broadheads. Music’s hit-list buck has recently showed  up on camera and he was hoping to catch the buck making the same move again while he was in the stand.

Richard had been sweating it out in the 80 degree temperatures when the field he was watching began to fill up with deer. He had his eye on a bunch of young bucks and does when suddenly something spooked the deer and the field cleared. Five minutes later something came walking up behind the stand. Music was hoping it was his hit-list buck. Unfortunately, it was a small 6 pointer. But right behind the young buck was a doe that was taking the same path.

“Anticipation kicked into overdrive,” Richard says. “I knew I was finally gonna get my chance to put some meat in the freezer.”

Music flipped on his Tactacam and other cameras to capture the action as it unfolded. When the doe stepped into his lane at 8 yards, Richard made the shot. The doe went 30 yards and crashed into the creek.

Punchin’ tags and putting meat in the freezer. Life is good!

“I have to tell you, these new NAP Doublecross broadheads are insane,” says Music. “In 20 years of bowhunting, I’ve never seen a bloodtrail like this before. I got the deer loaded up and headed home. My wife and kids enjoyed fresh backstraps on the grill the following evening. I can’t wait for the next cold front to roll through so I can get back out after one of my hitlist bucks.”

Be sure to watch for Richard’s hunt on an upcoming episode of Bowhunt or Die.
