Article Spurs Interest in Giant Buck

By Bow StaffMarch 1, 2016

Several months back a viral video surfaced online showing a massive whitetail buck which allegedly lived in an Illinois forest preserve. In the deer hunting community this video spread like wildfire and much like most Internet hits these days, was gone just as quickly. However a recent article in the Chicago Sun-Times about this same deer has brought back widespread attention to this animal, which was created somewhat of an uproar.  With shed antler seekers taking to the woods this time of year the particular preserve in which this animal lived was recently flooded with antler hunters looking to take home this world class rack.  In fact so many people flooded the preserve that conservation officials had to be placed on site to help curb the influx of unwanted foot traffic.  One video posted on Facebook even shows this monster buck eating from a pile of corn, which is illegal in Illinois.

While details remain unclear at this time we do know the rack is in the possession of the Cook County Forest Preserve at this time.  What happens next remains to be seen.

This world class set of non-typical shed antlers came from a deer living in a Cook County, Illinois forest preserve which is off limits to hunting.
