A new and exciting archery tournament format is being introduced for 2016 that’s creating quite a buzz among the tournament archery world.
Renown shooters and hunters, Levi and Samantha Morgan, have been developing the idea for a new tournament format in recent years. In 2016 the idea has finally come to life with the launch of the OPA.
The Organization of Professional Archery (OPA) is the vehicle that will drive this new tournament format designed to gather the best shooters from around the world.
OPA’s Summit Invitational will take place May 20-21 in Farmington, PA. The event is sponsored by Mossy Oak.
The 2-day event will require shooters to shoot 20 targets each day. It is a known distance format with targets ranging from 4-80 yards. Targets will feature colored rings for 12 and 14, and shooters must call their shot if going for a 14.
The OPA will be invitation-only up until 2 months prior to start date. At that point OPA staff will either open registration up to an alternate list or open registration on a first come first served basis until all spots are filled. This is a pre-register only event and at 2 weeks prior to the event registration will be closed. There will be no refunds on entry registration unless the OPA is unable to hold shoot due to bad weather.
This tournament format is sure to be a game changer in the way shooters view tournament competition…and I’m guessing there will be a whole lot of fun along the way.
