It seems that hunters, wildlife, and conservation have been under attack for a long time now. Everywhere we turn, someone is out to take away the great things that make America the best place on earth. Sadly, 0nce again, Congress drops the ball on conservation.
Here’s an update from the Tennessee Wildlife Federation…
Congress established the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) in 1964 “to protect and enhance our nation’s incomparable array of natural resources and outdoor recreation opportunities.” As America’s most essential federal conservation program, LWCF has protected our most iconic wild places, cultural resources and historic sites, and a broad array of irreplaceable natural resources for more than half a century. It has done all of these things via funding generated by off-shore oil and gas royalties rather than general taxes.
Yet, for all of these accomplishments, Congress failed to meet the Sept 30 deadline to reauthorize the fund.
