2012 Bowhunting.com Deer Contest

Fall and deer season is a time soaked heavily in tradition.  Deer drives, blaze orange, opening day; for each and every deer hunter there is a cool and unique tradition that hunters partake in every season.  For many dedicated bowhunters across the country, that includes the annual 2012 Bowhunting.com deer contest.

The rules of the contest are simple.  All you have to do is sign up for the contest in our forum by August 25th, the next day teams will be drawn.  Each member will then be randomly selected and assigned to a team (the number of team members per team will be decided by the amount of total participants), and then the fun begins.   It’s time to hunt!
Unlike many online deer hunting contests, the Bowhunting.com deer contest allows contestants to harvest a doe.  Shooting a female deer, regardless of size or age, earns that hunter and his team 50 points.  Hunters can harvest as many does as possible during their season, but only one may count toward the contest.

And, of course, we’ve got to discuss what those lucky hunters who are fortunate to shoot a big, rutting buck come fall will receive.  Since this is a bowhunting only contest, harvested bucks will be scored based on their gross antler score as recorded per the Pope and Young scoring system.  Like does, hunters can harvest as many bucks legally allowed in their state, but only their fist buck kill may be entered into the contest.
As I am writing this post we have already surpassed our record for participants for the contest with pnly days before the deadline.  The annual bowhunting.com deer contest is a great way for hunters all across the country to meet, share their stories, do some friendly trash talking, and enjoy the camaraderie only made possible by hunting whitetails.

In addition to some friendly competition during deer season, our annual deer contest is perhaps best known for the friendships it creates.  Every year hunters from all across the country are able to come in contact with one another, share stories, tips, information, and before it’s all said and done, a new hunting partner has been made.  Also, many team members link up with their past team members for hunts the following season.  I was personally able to share hunts with Bowhunting.com President and Vice President Todd Graf and Justin Zarr, respectively, during the 2010 season after meeting them through the contest the year prior.

This year the winning team will not only receive bragging rights for the next 12 months and keep the same team heading into the 2013 contest, but will also receive a gift certificate to the Bowhunting.com store where thousands of products are available for purchase.
