When is the best time to plant the fall plot? I live in southern West Virginia.

The general rule is to plant fall plots 45 days before your first frost.  This way the plants have enough time to mature and provider adequate growth for the deer to eat them.  Southern WV usually gets it's first frost around mid-October so late August or early September would be a good time to plant your fall plots.
