Any suggestions for crossing an open field to get to your tree stand? I realize it is better to find an access that does not involve crossing the field so you don’t bump deer going to or coming from stand however this particular property it is unavoidable. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

I hunt a farm that has the same issue - no way to access timber without going through crops.  If you can afford a thermal imager, it's a game-changer for this.  I can scan the field before I head in and know exactly where the deer are at so I can avoid them.  If that's not an option, I used to wait until daylight to head into my stand.   I know it seems counter-intuitive as we're conditioned to be in before light, but I had great success with it.  This gave me time to make sure the deer were cleared off the field before I snuck in as quickly and quietly as possible.

Leave a bit earlier than you normally would. For example, if you typically get to your stand 20-30 minutes before legal light, try getting to your stand at least an hour before legal light.
