Taxidermy Fees By State

What’s the average cost for a deer mount in the USA? That’s the question taxidermist, Ashley Eve, wanted to answer, so she set out to do just that.

She went on to conduct a survey via social media to get a state by state look at what hunters can expect to pay for a shoulder deer mount these days. The chart below shows what she found.

“I conducted the survey over Instagram and Facebook,” says Eve. “With 632 responses in the USA, the results show the average price is $721.35. Obviously, different states and regions are going to be different, so I asked which state people are in to help with results.

Alaska leads with the highest taxidermy fees at a price of $954, followed by Washington at $952. The most budget-friendly states to have your deer mounted seem to be places like Delaware ($525), Alabama ($548), and North Carolina ($582).

How do these prices line up with the local taxidermist in your area? What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a deer mount?
