After nearly six years of building a reputation on premium, American-made fixed blades, Montana Knife Company (MKC) is stepping into the folding knife market. The Missoula-based manufacturer has officially announced the upcoming release of its first-ever folder, named THE MONTANA.
The knife represents a five-year manufacturing expansion aimed at bringing a high-tolerance pocket knife into the brand’s hunting and outdoor lineup.
Built for the Field
Known strictly for working fixed blades born out of a two-car garage, MKC designed the new folder to transition between daily pocket carry and backcountry utility.
Built entirely in Missoula, Montana, the knife utilizes premium MagnaCut steel—a highly sought-after alloy in the hunting community due to its extreme corrosion resistance and edge retention.
“Five years of scaling our manufacturing right here in Montana made our first folder possible,” said MKC Founder and CEO Josh Smith. “People will see a liner lock knife that weighs less than three ounces and is engineered to 0.0001 of an inch, built to fit in any pocket and operate without service for years. But what matters most is that THE MONTANA is built to be used and handed down just like every other knife we make.”
