Hawke Nature-Trek Compact Spotting Scope Review

By Brodie SwisherFebruary 22, 2021

Smaller, lighter, faster. Those seem to be the big 3 when it comes to hunting gear each year as the new products start to roll out. And that’s just what you’ll find with the all-new Hawke Nature-Trek spotting scope.

The new spotting scope from Hawke takes affordably-priced compact spotting scopes to a new level for 2021 with the introduction of their Nature-Trek spotter.

It’s a great new option for those hunts where size matters and space and weight are an issue.

Looking for a super compact spotting scope? Check out the Nature-Trek from Hawke Optics.

Compact Clarity

Spotting scopes are obviously an incredibly useful tool when it comes to  hunting in open country. Spotters allow you to study terrain and spot game like nothing else. The problem is, most hunters typically have to choose between hauling a big heavy scope to get adequate clarity, or spending a huge amount of money to get a compact, lightweight spotter.

A compact spotter designed to pick out the details.

Obviously, clarity is a critical feature for a spotting scope. It’s really not something  you want to skimp on. Without it, eye strain becomes an issue, as well as your ability to assess the details of the animal you pursue. And that’s where the new Nature Trek 9-27×56 spotting scope comes in to play. It was designed to tackle both clarity and compact design.

How compact is it? Here's a closer look, in the palm of my hand.

To handle the clarity aspect of the scope, Hawke uses fully multi-coated optics with a BAK-4 Porro Prism to give you better contrast and color transmission. This helps to cut down on your eye strain, since you can see the image clearly.

The field of view is 234-108 ft. at 1000 yards and there is a dual-focus knob to let you truly fine tune the image you see.

It is digi-scope compatible so you can use it as a zoom lens for your camera for recording images or video along the way.

Built Tough

When it comes to the build of the Nature Trek spotter, you’ll find a solid design built to handle the backcountry abuse it receives. It’s nitrogen purged and is water and fog proof. There is a stay-on lens cover, slide out sun shade and a twist-up eye cup.

Hawke is so confident in this scope’s durability that it comes with a No-Fault Lifetime Warranty.

Easy-grip rings allow for quick and simple adjustments.

One of the biggest selling points of this spotter is its size. It’ll nearly fit in the palm of your hand. The scope weighs in at a just 20.3 ounces, or just over a pound and is only 7.6 inches long. The compact design allows it to easily be tucked into a pack or pocket with quick and easy access.

Best yet, it’s priced at just $219, making it one of the most economical, compact spotters you’ll find anywhere.
