Bowtech Proven 34 Bow Review

By April 29, 2025

Bowtech released their new Proven 34 bow for 2025 with their sights set on delivering the best of their features and tuning technology in a 34″ axle to axle bow. The end result was an impressive bow that shoots smooth and steady and provides stability beyond what we’ve seen from Bowtech in the past.

The bow is being touted as the perfect blend of performance, stability and reliability. You might consider it the all-star among the Bowtech lineup with all the good stuff Bowtech fans have grown to love over the years, all built into one sweet shooting package.

So if you’re looking for a longer axle to axle bow as you head into the 2025 hunting season, take a closer look at the new Bowtech Proven 34 in our review, including specs, features, video and performance on the range.

First Impressions on the Bowtech Proven 34

When it comes to first impressions, pulling the bow from the box, the longer ATA length immediately caught my attention.

I’ve not shot a bow of this length in years. Bows have continued to creep shorter and shorter over the last several decades as manufacturers pushed to see how short and compact they could build a bow.

However, it now seems that we’re headed back in the other direction, with bows being offered at longer ATA lengths once again. Shooters are once again gravitating to the shootability of longer axle to axle bows without ridiculously short string angles.

The Proven 34 answers the demand from Bowtech shooters for a bow in this class.

I also noticed the beefy build of the bow. It’s no lightweight. It’s a stout shooter weighing in at 4.7 pounds. However, considering the longer length, the weight balances out nicely.

The Proven Cam System

The Proven 34 boasts what could easily be described as the most sophisticated cam system on the market. It’s packed with features and function that make it one of the most shooter-friendly bows out there.

For starters, the bow is available in two cam options – the STD cam for draw lengths of 25″ – 30″ and the LD cam for 27.5″ – 33″. That’s a wide range of draw length options, even for the long draw shooter.

The sophistication and tunability in the cam starts with the bow’s DeadLock system. This 2-screw system allows you to move the cam on the axle in the tuning process. One screw loosens and another screw moves the cam along the axle. It’s really slick.

It gives you the opportunity for perfect tuning any time. No longer do you have to run back to the bow press or the bow shop. No bow press required. Tuning has never been easier.

But the quick-tune ability of this bow doesn’t stop there. You’ll also find TimeLock. It’s a really slick feature that allows you keep your bow performing at its best and properly timed with minimal hassle.

The FlipDisc technology built into the bow essentially gives you two bows in one. You can choose between the Comfort side, providing the smoothest and most comfortable drawing experience, or the Performance side, built for extra speed.

Just keep in mind, the speed you’ll pick up on the Performance side comes at a price. You’ll find a noticeably more aggressive draw cycle on the Performance side of the FlipDisc.

The rotating mod allows for quick and easy draw length adjustment, so you’re never waiting on a replacement cam or modules to arrive at your local bow shop. You simply remove the module screws, rotate the module to the draw length you need, and put the screws back in place.

GripLock

The grip on the bow is plenty comfortable as is, but for those who prefer a different grip angle, there are plenty of options here as well. The GripLock design provides a fully customizable grip system, giving you the opportunity to fine-tune the grip angle with a simple Allen wrench.

I don’t know how much this feature will be used by other shooters. Again, to me, it feels perfect as it is. But there are ample options for anyone wanting something more.

CenterMass Sight Mount

Last year, we saw CenterMass technology introduced with a thru-the-riser sight mounting option. However, for 2025, the newest generation finds the sight mounting on the inside of the sight window, essentially opposite of the traditional sight mounting location.

You’ll find a simple cutout to mount the sight bar with 2 screws.

Why the change?

This improvement was designed to enhance balance and precision and deliver greater stability and accuracy in every shot.

And when it comes to the arrow rest mounting options, you’ll find the new standard these days – the IMS mount – as well as the traditional berger holes for side mounting if so desired.

Performance on the Range

On the range is where the Proven 34 really shines. Again, the longer axle to axle length and the heavier build really make this bow sit dead steady in the hand.

I stepped out on the range to get a feel for real-world performance of the bow with my hunting setup. The test bow I shot was set up at 28″ draw and cranked down to 70lbs draw weight.

With my Easton Axis hunting arrow weighing in at 420 grains, I consistently got speeds of 290 FPS out of the bow through the Garmin chrono.

On the Comfort setting the draw cycle is smooth and easy from the start, with a little bump as the cams roll over.

The bow holds really steady in the hand. It’s well balanced and “points” nice and solid. It’s honestly a fun bow to shoot.

East or West Bow Package Options

Bowtech is offering two premium accessory packages for the Proven 34 to simplify what can often be the most overwhelming part of buying a new bow.

These packages, the Treestand and Mountain packages, are built for specific hunting environments by experts with decades of experience in these settings.

Each package includes carefully selected, high-performance components – premium Black Gold sights, Tight Spot quivers, Ripcord rests, and Bowtech CenterMass stabilizers—that work in harmony to further enhance balance, accuracy, and reliability.

These new accessory packages ensure customers can start shooting sooner, with full confidence in their setup.

If you’re looking to hit the woods, or target line, with a longer axle to axle bow this year, be sure to give the Proven 34 a test drive.

You can check it out at your local Bowtech dealer, or online at www.bowtecharchery.com.
