I have bow hunted for over 40 years now and I really get a kick out of you guys. Takes me back to my younger years. I filmed some of my hunts, but you guys do a much better job at getting your hunts down on film. I have watching you guys for three or four seasons and love it. Keep up the great show and good luck this season. P.S. I seen Todd has already done well. Congratulations !

    BHOD Crew,
I love your show. I have watched every episode you guys have ever put out and am always waiting for the next episode to come out. I love how you guys keep it real and always show/ talk about the good, bad and ugly of bow hunting. In the spirit of keeping it real, with all due respect, I have seen several shots on your show where your arrows/broadheads get less than optimum penetration. For example, it seems to me an arrow with adequate momentum should have completely passed through Todd’s opening day buck, especially on a 10-12 yard shot. Any thoughts on this for those of us at home who may have noticed the same thing?

Anyways, I am a huge fan. Thanks for all you do and best of luck to all the team members this season. BHOD.

    • First off, thanks for watching! Glad you like the show.

To your point, Todd is shooting a 60 lb bow with one of the largest mechanical broadheads on the market. His setup isn’t geared towards penetration – it’s geared towards making huge entry holes and doing maximum damage inside the animal. Additionally in this particular case his arrow hit the off side leg bone which is what stopped the penetration. A perfectly placed heart shot and the deer didn’t make it 80 yards. Making a clean, ethical kill is all that really matters.

Thanks for a very prompt reply and a thorough response. I totally agree with your statements…I definitely think that the large mechanical broadhead had a lot to do with it. I hope I didn’t come across as being too critical as the shot was obviously well placed and the kill was as clean and ethical as any hunter could hope for.
        Thanks again!

Question for Todd, last year you shot the double cross, any reason for the change or just something new?
