In the past few years, there has been a dramatic shift in the knife market, where most utility knives now feature replaceable blades. There is a really great convenience factor to this.
If your current blade is dull or dirty and you need a clean, sharp blade in a hurry, you can simply change the blades out in a matter of seconds and get the job done.
However, there is a downfall to most knives with replaceable blades, and that is the fact that the replaceable mechanism tends to require ultra-thin, and thus flimsy, blades to make it work.
Cold Steel sent out to fix this problem with their Click-N-Cut Folder knife, and I have to say, I was impressed.
Right out of the packaging, this felt like a knife that I wouldn’t have to worry about damaging, or being rough with. Too often I buy a knife and wonder how well it’s going to hold up to some of the tough projects I am constantly doing around my farm, and it seemed like Cold Steel had that in mind with this design.
Each blade is made of 1.5mm thick 420J2 stainless steel, which is roughly double the thickness of most blades on the market, especially in this class. Along with durable blades, the Click-N-Cut also features Cold Steel’s incredible Tri-Ad lock system, which can hold up to the worst of conditions.
An important note of this knife is how simple and easy it is to swap blades out. To replace a blade, you simply engage the lock bar with the blade open, fold the blade down roughly 70 degrees, and slide outward. Within seconds you’ll have a brand new blade installed and ready to go back to work.
The handle is constructed of 4 ¼ inch high impact ABS, which adds value that I believe a lot of other knife manufacturers are overlooking. This sleek, yet durable construction with a lockbar release is what you would expect to come with a utility knife, and that’s what’s important.
The Click-N-Cut comes with a drop point blade as well as a utility blade, which are both very easily sharpened so that you can get the most out of this knife. Replacement blades as well as more technically designed blades can also be purchased easily through the Cold Steel website.
Whether I am working in my garage, or I’m out in the woods chasing big game, this is a knife that brings tremendous versatility and convenience that is simply hard to match.
