Completing North America’s Super Slam is one of the most coveted achievements any hunter can accomplish. Professional hunter and television personality, Tom Miranda, completed just that. Only he did it all on film. Dare we say – En Fuego?
On May 9th, 2011, Tom was able to harvest his last animal needed to complete the Super Slam while hunting in Carmen Island, Mexico. The last, and certainly not least, animal was a Desert Bighorn Sheep which Tom harvested on his 4th trip, after 36 days of hunting.
What makes Tom’s Super Slam unlike any other is that he may be the first person in the world to accomplish this feat entirely on camera. Every one of the 29 species needed to complete the Super Slam has been filmed, spanning a 13 year period.
Tom Miranda’s 29th animal took 36 days of hard hunting over 4 trips to harvest on film!
In a recent press release, Tom stated, “I believe I am the first bowhunter to document all 29 animals on broadcast video with all arrow impacts and recoveries. Not all my animals have been officially scored, but I believe 26 of the 29 score high enough to make the P&Y record book. A couple of these animals were taken with lighted nocks for better video representation of the arrow flight and these animals are not eligible for P&Y at this time…”
“The Grand Slam Club has listed my Wild Sheep Grand Slam as archery Grand Slam #51. The new Super Slam Organization hasn’t officially given numbers out to the Super Slam hunters as of yet, as some slammers have failed to officially register their Super Slam’s. Since the Organization just formed in 2009, and will likely assign the official Super Slam order of hunters and achievements in the near future. I would urge everyone who has taken or is attempting the Super Slam to join the Super Slam Organization and register your animals…”

Miranda will receive the coveted Super Slam award presented by The Grand Slam Club at the Hunter and Outfitter Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 22, 2012.
