With turkey season still a month away in most parts of the country, you would think the local turkey population would be free of worry for at least a few more weeks. But that wasn’t the case for one bunch of birds as they recently fed on the edge of a food plot. The Stealth Cam snapped a series of telling photos as one hunter did his best to make a quick kill on a flock of turkeys as they fed in the snow.
With every bird in the flock on full alert, danger is obviously on the way…
In a flash, a killer comes on the scene and birds flush…
Close wasn’t quite good enough for this coyote as he scatters the flock and the birds make a hasty retreat…
Despite what many hunters think, coyotes do target turkey populations as a food source throughout the year. Fortunately for the turkeys – and turkey hunters – many encounters end like this one captured by the Stealth Cam.
We want to hear from you. Have you ever witnessed coyotes successfully hunting turkeys?
