Is there anyone out there that's brave enough to still use an old wooden platform stand?

I used them for years . Not as easy to steal .
Tree stand manufactures need to look into building stands for heavy hunters. I have seen a few hunters in the 350# to 400# range.
Yup rebuild them every year with new logs and hardware never had one break and there's no better camo than real camo
Yep I trust them more than those 100 dollar stands they sell at Walmart.
I prefer them - commercial ones are too small and/or too low of a weight rating
Yup...climb up and strap in!!
Still hunt from the first one I Built 44 years ago. Lost count of the deer shot by myself and my boys from that stand
I found one, one year with no ladder. I shimmied up the tree and got into it and just sat on the platform by the tree. Shot an 8 point out of it about half hour later
There’s still folks that don’t have rolls of money, and take pride in making something with their own hands. Shot a lot of deer out of stands like that.
Just took a picture of one of my old ones yesterday.
That’s how we roll, doesn’t cost a grand or two to hunt but portable stands are greatly needed for hunting on someone else’s property but wood always put old permanent on my own property,
I used a wooden 12’x6’ structure about 24’ up built between cedar trees, with a wood burning stove
We build new 1's almost every other year...trust my carpentry skills over some thin metal factory
No! My life’s worth more than that
I do. And I believe the ones I build are as safe, if not safer, than those sold in Sporting Goids stores...
Oh yeah been there done that
I still have one. Built out of cedar
I would. Old timers had them stands there for a reason. I'd love to find out why.
If it's up a tree, I'll get in it.
They're illegal on public land, yet I have found some.
Used to build and hunt out of a lot of them from 10' to 20'. Killed a lot of deer from them!!!
Still using one I built 10 years ago. Fits two adults. A little bit of suring up every now and then but it's been solid.
All over I'm getting up there
Looks a lot like my 1st deer stand. Some times I wonder how I survived. LOL
Sure. I would if they were legal. I would have made that one in the picture between those two trees though ^.
It’s confirmed I’m getting old, found this today in my drawer.🙄🙄😳——————————— #bowhuntordie #bowhunting #whitetail Mathews Archery, Inc. ... See MoreSee Less
