Bowfishing is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing archery sports in the world. It’s really of no surprise, however, as anytime you combine archery, water, and the possibility of viewing a bathing beauty beachside it makes for great entertainment.
In mid-March of this year Illinois bowfisher, Jeremy Leu, of Norris City harvested a NEW state record Longnose Gar from the Wabash River. At 56 inches long and weighing 27.2 lbs. this marks the second time a record Gar has been taken since the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) instituted the bowfishing records program in 2010.
Jeremy, who is the owner of Rivers Edge Productions, was using an Innerloc Hydrostrike bow with an Innerloc 3-blade grappler point.
The Hunting Network staff wishes to congratulate bowfisherman, Jeremy Leu, on this record achievement. This is probably the only occasion in which the term “gar-holed” could refer to something good. Who knew? Congrats again Jeremy!
