Bucks Continue to Fall in October

By Paul BossardetOctober 19, 2023

The First full weekend in October brought the first solid cold front of the season, where temperatures dropped by several degrees, and with that temperature drop came the fall of several impressive whitetail bucks.

While the second week in October did not have a significant temperature drop, it did have a weather system arrive that brought substantial rain totals and high winds to many parts of the Midwest and East Coast making for tough hunting conditions come the weekend.

Some hunters were able to capitalize before the system moved through, and others had to make do with the conditions they had. Based on the pictures we found on social media, they did just fine.

Chris Propst – Missouri

Chris was able to harvest this beautiful whitetail on October 9th in Missouri. With several years of history, Chris waited until this deer reached full maturity. Chris’s waiting paid off, this brute scored 191″

Jonah Bell – Iowa

One sit is all Jonah needed to put his target buck on the ground. This 170″+ whitetail hit the ground on October 6th, and all of Jonah’s hard work in the preseason paid off on a one-and-done sit!

Buck Continue To Fall In October

Josh Bowmar – Iowa

Tagged out in a week, Bowmar does it again. Josh was able to catch up to this 6.5-year-old buck on the 13th of October, sealing the deal with a 32-yard shot while this buck worked a scrape. This old buck scored roughly 180″ with broken-off points, but may have gone well over 200″

Kendall Golightly – Georgia

One piece of information is all Kendall had to make a move on this Georgia Whitetail. With only one trail camera picture the night prior, Kendall slipped into his stand and was able to get it done on a magnificent deer.

Matt Jennings – Oklahoma

This week was one Matt Jennings won’t soon forget. He was able to put an arrow through this Oklahoma giant. Be on the lookout for the full story as Matt and his brother were able to capture it all on camera.

As October rolls on and the rut approaches, you can bet that the number of bucks hitting the dirt will only grow. Arguably one of the best times of the year in deer hunting is only a few weeks away, it’s time to start making those sits looking for that giant!
