Horton is always astounding its customers with new gear every year. This year is no different. At the ATA Show, they unveiled a few new bows for this year. Check out one of them, the Legend Ultra Lite.

Newly formed manufacturer, Horton Crossbow Innovations™, unveiled its inaugural two-model crossbow lineup at the 2015 ATA Show in Indianapolis on January 8, 2015. Rick Bednar, Horton’s President, Chairman, and CEO, said that the company intends “… to produce a lineup of highly effective, reliable, and affordable crossbows for hunters of all ages and physical abilities.”

Horton Legend Ultra Lite

The first installment on that promise, the Legend Ultra Lite, is a high-performance model featuring an innovative adjustable stock and robust bow assembly.

“Considering the Legend’s weight, speed, functionality, and price, I predict it will enjoy broad appeal in the marketplace,” Bednar said. “This crossbow will speak for itself. It is extremely good looking and will grab the attention of the consumer who picks it up, shoulders it, and shoots it. It is going to perform at a high level over the long haul and will be backed by the best customer service in the industry.”

The foundation of the Legend Ultra Lite’s stock assembly is its lightweight, three-piece ABX™ (Adjustable Bullpup Crossbow) butt stock and barrel receiver. The high-tech stock is molded from PlastiComp® Complēt® and features an adjustable cheek piece and butt plate. The rubber cheek piece adjusts to any of seven fixed positions by removing the screws and sliding the comb to create perfect eye-level alignment. Likewise, the rubber butt plate adjusts to one of three fixed positions to match up perfectly with the shooter’s length-of-pull.

The Legend’s lightweight, 19.63-inch carbon-injected polymer barrel is fitted with a machined aluminum trigger box. The trigger box houses a 2 ½-inch bullpup version of the company’s 3 ½-pound T3™ trigger, the Dry-Fire-Inhibitor™ (DFI), and trigger safety. Once outfitted, the barrel bolts into the stock’s receiver.

The stock assembly is completed by nesting rubber safety wings on top of the crossbow’s PlaticComp Complēt® molded fore-grip and attaching this two-piece assembly to the bottom of the barrel. The safety wings help prevent a shooter’s fore-grip fingers and thumb from moving above the flight deck while shooting the crossbow.

The bow assembly’s foundation is a fully machined aluminum riser, designed with two large, weight-reducing cutouts and is equipped with machined aluminum limb pockets. The pockets accept 175-pound draw weight, 13-inch HL Limbs™ powered by XR™ wheels and DynaFLIGHT 97 string and cables with a hard yoke system. The assembly measures 18.375-inches axle-to-axle when cocked and drives its recommended arrow at a quick 330 feet per second.

When the two assemblies are connected, the Legend measures just 35.5 inches long and weighs in at a mere 6.8 pounds.

Equipped with or without either the patented ACUdraw™ or ACUdraw 50™ cocking mechanism and the 4x 32 Multi-Line Scope, the Legend Ultra Lite is double-dip fluid imaged in Mossy Oak® Treestand® camo.

The model sells only as a complete package that includes three 400-grain, 20-inch Victory® Archery carbon arrows, and a quiver.

Legend Ultra Lite MSRP: $699 with no cocking mechanism, $799 with ACUdraw 50, $899 with ACUdraw.
