We deer hunters are always on the lookout for that competitive edge, our Hail Mary or our off speed pitch. The Boone and Crockett Club, the nation’s oldest keeper of North American big-game records, may have just delivered it. And in paperback form too. So go ahead, take it into the bathroom for bi-daily reading.
This may be the most fascinating book ever written about the habits of the whitetail buck, in full color, complete with charts, graphs, possibly mazes and a breakdown reviewing of the last 8,000 recent Boone and Crockett entries. (We’ll assume excluding Marc Anthony’s of course.)
According to the book entitled, Boone and Crockett Club’s Complete Guide to Hunting Whitetails, 93% of the recent B&C trophies were taken while no precipitation was falling. A surprising 51% were taken under clear skies and 81% were taken when the thermometer fell below 50 degrees.
Here’s the big boom for all you folks who already put in for your vacation time this fall. We hope you chose the week surrounding November 13th, because according to the past entries, this is the best week to arrow a true B&C giant. Make sure to be in stand between 4 and 5 p.m.
