Before the ATA Show yesterday, Todd Graf gave me a miniature pep talk about how 15 years ago he was in the exact same position as I was.  He told me of how he was intimidated by all the big name celebrities, but encouraged me to attack the pros when looking for product information with a fearless attitude.  He then told me of how Jim Shockey was one of the few hunting celebrities that took time out of his busy day and give him the time of day and listen to Todd’s sales pitch at an ATA show many years ago.  I had always been a big fan of Jim Shockey, but I then made it a point to meet him for myself.

One of the bowhunting industry's most genuine bowhunters!

As I mentioned in my previous blog, I had the pleasure of meeting Jim Shockey today and even got a couple pictures with him.  He and I carried on a casual conversation for a few minutes and I can honestly say he is one of the most sincere and genuine people I have met in the hunting industry.  I told him of how Todd gave me an opportunity similar to the one he gave Todd 15 years ago.  It was truly a pleasure to meet a down to earth, approachable hunting celebrity and I am thankful I had the opportunity to do so.  If you ever have the chance to meet Jim Shockey, go out of your way to do so, I promise you it will be a pleasure!

Jim Shockey and I talking about bowhunting and the hunting industry in general.  If you ever get the chance to meet Jim, you will meet one of the most sincere people in the hunting industry.
